What if we offer our children another kind of education, something more in tune with the environment, where they could learn preserve it and enjoy the benefits of nature?
This new concept is the proposal of the Group Zen agency
for the realization of a sustainable and innovative construction nursery.
In our digital age, connecting children to nature seems more difficult than ever. Therefore, we have imagined innovative ways to bring children into closer contact with nature.
A proposal that merges urban agriculture with children’s education …
LEARNING TO TAKE CARE OF THE ENVIRONMENT FROM CHILDHOOD
This project offers three learning approaches: learning from nature, learning from technique and learning from practice.
If sustainability is not only the path we should follow, but especially the one we need to take care of our world, it should be not only a subject of study, but a true way of life that we should learn from the first years of life.
We believe that children should enjoy nature and understand from an early age what the environment means and how to preserve it. So we designed this strange nursery child:
whether indoors or outdoors, the child is always in contact with vegetation and animals and will learn to care for them.
HOW TO TEACH CHILDREN TO GROW THEIR OWN FOOD
Teaching children how to grow and harvest their own food, as well as interact with animals, may help them improve their social skills through teamwork, boost self-esteem, and promote healthy lifestyles.
LEARNING TO TAKE CARE OF THE ENVIRONMENT FROM CHILDHOOD
Through this project we have sought maximum energy efficiency. It was essential to work with materials without toxic emissions for health and environment, designing new spaces using the passivhaus system.
The architecture aims to find ways of building that are more efficient and sustainable. Similarly, it seeks to personalize projects while reducing production times and minimizing costs. And it is possible thanks to the modular wood construction !
Modular architecture is a guarantee of minimum environmental impact, as the construction process is carried out in the factory and then the modules are assembled and assembled on site. This allows a reduction of the acoustic impact and the reuse or correct disposal of the waste.
The materials are selected with great care, allowing for excellent insulation which in turn reduces energy consumption. They are lighter constructions that mostly include solar panels.
Modular architecture brings together several important factors for sustainable construction: design, ecological materials, reduced production and costs, maximum comfort and sustainability
How the project is structured …. ?
Playing Area
A space of 200 m2, designed as if it were a forest, where children can play and learn the meaning of the environment at the same time and how to preserve it.

INNOVATIVE PLAY AREA
A space where children will find themselves in an artificial forest, specially designed so that they can continue to enjoy nature, its benefits and the well-being that it can create for us.
This environment will also help educators to create a mix between school and nature so that children learn to take care of it.
THE BENEFITS OF NATURE FOR CHILDREN
For children, nature is an amusement park, excellent medicine and a learning classroom. Contact with it improves health, attention span, motor and cognitive development, autonomy, safety, acquisition of values…
Nature offers such a large amount of stimulation
that the contact with it makes the child feel free and that makes him/her more awake, balanced and healthy.
